Botox & Dysport FAQs

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions about Botox & Dysport

What is Botox?

Similar to Dysport, Botox is a neurotoxin. It causes wrinkles to relax and soften by blocking signals from the nerves to the muscles. The injected muscle can no longer contract. It is most often used on forehead lines, crow's feet (lines around the eye) and frown lines. Wrinkles caused by sun damage and gravity will not respond to Botox.

Botox vs fillers – what’s the difference?

It is most often used on forehead lines, crow's feet (lines around the eye) and frown lines. Dermal fillers are made of a hyaluronic acid gel which helps support facial structure and stimulate collagen production as we get older. Fillers are also known to help stimulate collagen which we start depleting in our early 30. Although the underlying approach differs, both treatments can be used to address wrinkles. During your consultation, we’ll discuss the results you want to attain, and we’ll develop individualized recommendations designed to achieve your goals.
